Sample Flips: Fabolous – “Breathe” (Prod. By Just Blaze)

Fabolous is a rapper from Brooklyn, New York who has enjoyed an extensive career since the late ’90s.  Fab grew up in Bedstuy, Brooklyn, and he started rapping while he was in high school.  Then, in 1998, Fab went to Hot 97 to have a meeting with DJ Clue, but he ended up freestyling live on air with N.O.R.E.  Afterwards, Clue signed Fabolous to his Dessert Storm record label, and Fab began rhyming on DJ Clue’s mixtapes.  Three years later, Fab released his debut album, Ghetto Fabolous.  The album was a success, and one of his most successful songs was “Youg’n (Holla Back).”  In 2003, he released Street Dreams, and “Into You” Ft. Tamia was one of the standout records.  In 2004, he dropped Real Talk, and it was led by “Breathe.”  The album was a commercial success, but the critical reception was mixed.  The thing is, Fab’s mixtapes are often better than his albums, but I think some of his album hits, like “Breathe,” are just as good.
