Sample Flips: G-Unit – “Smile” (Prod. by No I.D.)

2003 was a big year for 50 Cent and G-Unit.  In February, 50 Cent’s debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, was released and the album was a hit. Following the success of his debut album, 50 was given an opportunity (through Interscope) to form his own record label: G-Unit Records.  In November, G-Unit released their debut album, Beg for Mercy.  The album was led by four singles, “Stunt 101,” “Poppin’ Them Thangs,” “Wanna Get To Know You,” and “Smile.”  Aside from the hardcore street songs that I like on Beg for Mercy, “Smile” was a song that always stuck with me.  I like “Smile” for two reasons: The soul-sample that drives the track and the amount of women that like it, too.
