dead prez is a hip hop duo from New York that features two rappers: M-1 and stic.man.  M-1 is from Brooklyn, and stic.man is from Shadeville, Florida.  In the early ’90s, they met each other in college at Florida A&M.  Later, they created dead prez, and relocated to New York.  While in the city, they met Lord Jamar (one of the founding members of Brand Nubian).  He liked their music, and he helped them sign a record deal with Loud Records.  In 2000, dead prez released their debut album, Let’s Get Free.  The album was led by their classic single, “Hip Hop.”  Another song that I like is “We Want Freedom.”
