Noel Pointer was a violinist from Brooklyn, New York who recorded for several decades. His career started in high school at The High School of Music and Art. He studied classical violin, and after high school, he was a freelance artist for various orchestras. He played for the Apollo Theater Orchestra, the Love Unlimited Orchestra, the Radio City Music Hall Symphony, and many more. In 1977, he released his debut album, Phantazia. The album went platinum, and it finished within the top five jazz albums on the Billboard chart. Pointer followed his debut with six more albums. His album Direct Hit (1982) features “We Took The Long Way Home.”
