Lonette McKee is a actress, singer, and songwriter from Detroit, Michigan who mainly recorded in the ’70s. As a child, McKee played the keyboard and wrote unreleased songs. In 1968, at 14, she released her debut single, “Don’t Worry About It.” It was her first hit. In 1974, she released her debut album, Lonette. Two years later, her life changed. She made her acting debut in Sparkle. Her portrayal of Sister Williams became one of the most well-known characters in her career. Two years later, Mckee released her second album, Words and Music. She co-produced the album with producer and arranger Johnny Pate. When I discovered Words and Music, I was impressed by the quality of the album. One of my favorite songs is “Come To Me Softly.”
