Makoto Matsushita is a Japanese singer and composer. His passion for music started in high school, and he studied guitar and music theory in college. He studied at the Nem Conservatory in Japan, and a lot of his curriculum revolved around jazz. After college, Matsushita started playing the guitar and composing for different artists in Japan. He worked on Mai Yamane’s Tasogare (1980) album, Yoko Katori’s Libra (1980), and Judy Anton’s Smile (1980). In 1981, Matsushita released his debut solo album, First Light. One of the highlights from the album is his song “September Rain.”
