Özdemir Erdoğan is a Turkish singer, songwriter, and composer from Istanbul, Turkey. He was exposed to music at an early age through his mother and his uncle. His mother was a classical pianist, and his uncle was a pianist and a violinist. However, Erdoğan didn’t start making music immediately. After he graduated from high school, and after he fulfilled his mandatory military service, Erdoğan pivoted to music. Erdoğan learned how to play classical guitar, and in the late ’60s, he started recording his own music. His career took off in the ’70s. In 1972, he released “Gurbet.” It was one of his first hits, and Erdoğan became a jazz sensation in Turkey.
