The Emotions are a soul trio from Chicago, Illinois that rose to prominence in the ’60s and the ’70s. The trio featured three sisters Pamela, Wanda, and Sheila Hutchinson. In fact, before they started recording soul music as The Emotions, the sisters travelled around Chicago singing gospel music as the Hutchinson Sunbeams. When they evolved from gospel music to soul music, they changed their name to The Emotions. Shortly after, they signed to Volt Records (an imprint of Stax Records). In 1969, they released their debut album, So I Can Love You. The title song, “So I Can Love You” became one of their first hits.
