Guilty Simpson is a rapper from Detroit, Michigan who has been rhyming since the ’90s. He started his career as a member of the Almighty Dreadnaughtz. The Michigan-based collective featured rappers from all over the state, like Hex Murda, Alius Pnukkl, Kriz Steel, and more. In the 2000s, Guilty Simpson went solo. He released a number of singles, and he appeared on different records before he started working on his own album. In the lead up to his album, J Dilla, Madlib, and Black Milk were frequent collaborators. In 2008, Simpson released his debut album, Ode to The Ghetto. J Dilla, Madlib, and Black Milk all had at least one record on the album. One of the songs I like the most is “The Real Me” (produced by Black Milk).
