Penny Goodwin is a soul singer from Milwaukee, Wisconsin who recorded in the ’70s. Before she started recording music, Goodwin was a popular act in Milwaukee. First, she sang in church with Al Jarreau, a legendary soul and jazz musician from Milwaukee. Then, she started performing at weddings, talent competitions, and bar mitzvahs. By the time she was out of high school, she was performing in local night clubs. In 1974, she released her one and only album, Portrait of a Gemini. Her album featured a combination of Gil Scott-Heron and Marvin Gaye cover songs and original music. “Too Soon You’re Old” is one of her original records.
