The Sweet Things were a vocal trio that formed in Washington, D.C. in the mid ’60s. The trio featured singers Francine Hurd, Dyanne Stewart, and Nancy J. Johnson. In 1965, they originally made their debut as The Darlettes, but they only released one single, “Lost/Sweet Kind of Loneliness,” on Mira Records. One year later, the trio officially changed their name to The Sweet Things, and they released their debut single, “I’m In A World Of Trouble/Baby’s Blue,” on Date Records. They cut two additional singles for Date Records before they ultimately moved to Capitol Records in the early ’70s. Their stay at Capitol Records was brief, which is unfortunate because I feel like The Sweet Things had a nice sound, it just seems like they couldn’t find their footing.
