Big L was a rapper from Harlem, New York who rose to prominence in the ’90s. He was known for freestyling, and he battled MC’s throughout the city. He also founded two groups, Three The Hard Way and Children of the Corn. Children of the Corn was more notable, and it featured Cam’ron, Ma$e, Herb McGruff, and Bloodshed. In 1992, Big L joined D.I.T.C., the Bronx-based crew started by Lord Finesse, which included O.C., Fat Joe, Buckwild, Diamond D, and Showbiz and A.G. In 1995, Big L released his debut album, Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous. The album was led by three singles, “Put It On,” “M.V.P.,” and “No Endz, No Skinz.” One of my favorite deep cuts is “Street Struck.”
