Junior Parker is a blues singer who was born on a plantation near Bobo, Cahoma County, Mississippi. As a child, he sang in various gospel groups, and after he moved to Memphis, Tennessee with his mother, he began his blues career. In the early ’50s, Parker became a member of the Beale Streeters, an unofficial group of Blues musicians that included Bobby “Blue” Band, B.B. King, and many others. Most of Parker’s success came during the ’50s and ’60s. Songs like “Feeling Good,” “Mystery Train,” and “Next Time You See Me” were all hits during this time. Parker continued to record well into the ’70s, and one of his last albums Love Ain’t Nothin’ but a Business Goin’ On features “River’s Invitation.”
