Eve is a rapper from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who enjoyed a successful career in the early 2000s.  In 1999, Eve released her debut single, “What Y’all Want;” it peaked at #29 on the Billboard Hot 100, and it reached #1 on the Hot Rap songs chart.  Shortly after, her song was included on the Ruff Ryders compilation album, Ryde or Die Vol. 1 (1999).  Later that year, Eve released her debut album, Let There Be Eve…Ruff Ryders’ First Lady.   Her debut album was a success; she became the third woman in hip hop history to have her album peak at #1 on the Billboard 200.  Not only was her album commercially successful, it was clear that Eve would play a major role on Ruff Ryders, and she would be able to lead her own path.
