Jean Adebambo was a singer from Islington, London, England. In the early ’80s, Adebambo was training to become a nurse. During this time, she was invited to record two cover songs, “Again,” and “Reunited,” for the UK-based reggae label Ital Records. Her cover songs led to a meeting with Leonard Chin, a Jamaican producer who relocated to London, England. Together, they recorded Adebambo’s debut single, “Paradise” (1981). To date, “Paradise” is her most well-known song, and it’s also a staple within the lover’s rock genre. Adebambo recorded two albums after the release of her debut single, and she had an impactful run throughout the ’80s, but in the late ’80s, she stopped making music and returned to the health care industry.
