Dom Kennedy is a rapper from Los Angeles, California. He was born in Hanford, California, but he grew up in Leimert Park, California. In 2008, he released his debut mixtape, 25th Hour. The success of his debut led to a solid following in LA and throughout the country. The following year, he released two mixtapes, Futurestreet/Drug Sounds and Best After Bobby. In 2010, he released From Westside With Love; this mixtape played a pivotal role in his rapid ascension. Shortly after, Dom began performing in the U.S. and abroad, and he became a fixture within the west coast sound at the time. In 2011, Dom released two more projects: The Original Dom Kennedy and his debut album, Westside With Love, II. Both projects were dope, and actually served as my introduction to Dom. One of my favorite songs from his album is “Platinum Chanel;” it has all of the elements I like in his music.
