Sample Flips: Beanie Sigel – “Nothing Like It” (Prod. By Kanye West)

Beanie Sigel is a rapper from South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He started his career as a battle rapper in Philly.  His ascension through the battle ranks of Philly led to a deal with Roc-A-Fella Records in 1998.  Sigel quickly became a core member of the label, and he was featured on a number of songs (on and off the label) throughout 1998 and 1999.  In 2000, he released his debut album, The Truth.  His album was a success upon its release and it further established him as a force from Philly.  The following year, he released his second album, The Reason.  This album wasn’t as successful as the first, but it still had some gems.  The first song on the album, “Nothing Like It,” is one of my favorite songs by Sigel.  It features production by Kanye West and an introspective Sigel.
