Nolan Porter was a singer and songwriter from Los Angeles, California who released a few albums and singles in the early ’70s. In 1970, he released his debut album, No Apologies. The following year, he released two singles, “I Love What You Give” and “Keep on Keeping On.” Both singles and his debut album were released on Lizard Label, an imprint created by producer Gabriel Mekler. The success of Porter’s singles led to a deal with ABC Records. While at ABC Records, Porter recorded “If I Could Only Be Sure,” which became the lead single for his second and final album, Nolan. “If I Could Only Be Sure” is a soulful record with rhythm and blues and rock elements underneath.
