Source Material: Don Bryant – “Can I Change My Mind”

Don Bryant is a rhythm and blues singer and songwriter from Memphis, Tennessee.  In 1969, he released his debut album, Precious Soul, on Hi Records.  The album featured songs like “Try Me,” “Funky Broadway,” and “Can I Change My Mind.”  Shortly after the release of his album, Bryant shifted into songwriting for his labelmates at Hi Records.  He primarily wrote for Ann Peebles and together they co-wrote “I Can’t Stand The Rain” (1973).  Since the ’70s, Bryant has released three albums: What Do You Think About Jesus (1987), Don’t Give Up On Love (2017), and You Make Me Feel (2020).   His last two albums are closer to the sound on Precious Soul, but I’m happy to see Bryant is still making music.
