Source Material: The Whatnauts – “I’ll Erase Away Your Pain”

The Whatnauts were a soul group from Baltimore, Maryland that released a few albums and singles during the early ’70s.  They recorded three albums for Stang Records: Introducing the Whatnauts (1970), Reaching for the Stars (1971), and Whatnauts on the Rocks (1972).   Their debut album, Introducing the Whatnauts (1970), features their most well-known song, “I’ll Erase Away Your Pain.”  This record is also their highest charting song (it reached #14 on the Billboard R&B singles chart in 1971).
