The Controllers were a soul group from Fairfield, Alabama that began their career singing gospel. The group was made up of two brothers, Reginald and Larry McArthur, and their cousins Ricky Lewis and Leonard Brown. They cycled through two name changes, the Epics in 1965, and the Soul Controllers in 1970, before eventually becoming The Controllers. In 1977, The Controllers recorded their debut album, In Control for Juana Records. This album featured “Somebody’s Gotta Win,” a soulful number that was also their biggest hit.
