Tommie Young is a gospel and soul singer from Dallas, Texas. She started singing at five years old inside her father’s church. In the early ’70s, she performed at Dallas nightclubs. In 1972, Bobby Patterson, a local Dallas producer and co-owner of Soul Power, a Shreveport, Louisiana based label, heard Young perform and signed her shortly after. One year later, she released her debut album, Do You Still Feel The Same Way. The title song, “Do You Still Feel The Same Way” reached #28 on the national R&B chart. However, the album wasn’t much of a commercial success, but “Hit and Run Lover” was another soulful gem.
