Ann Peebles is a singer from St Louis, Missouri who’s most well-known for her song “I Can’t Stand the Rain.”  She released her album I Can’t Stand the Rain on Hi Records in 1974.  Hi Records was a notable record label based in Memphis, Tennessee, largely due to the ascension of her label mate, Al Green.  Peebles enjoyed a brief stint of success with her album I Can’t Stand The Rain which featured “I Can’t Stand the Rain” and “I’m Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down.”  I like “I’m Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down” because of its horn section and her soulful vocals.
