Grant Green was a jazz guitarist from St Louis, Missouri. He’s most well-known for his contributions as a leader and a sideman for Blue Note Records. Green is considered to be one of the most prolific and least celebrated guitarists of his time. One of the main reasons why is because the majority of his music wasn’t released until his untimely death in 1979. Fortunately, his 1970 album, Carryin’ On, features “Upshot,” a jazz-funk song that shows what Green was capable of.
