Pete Rock & CL Smooth’s “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)” is was one of the rare rap songs (and sampling gems) that everyone likes. It’s an undisputed classic that makes you emotional just as much as makes you knod your head and want to dance. Featuring one the most touching memoir-esque rhymes and one of the best examples of sampling in the hip hop/rap music tradition, “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)” is widely regarded as the best hip hop/rap song ever made. In my opinion, if I could only choose one song to introduce someone to hip hop/rap music (and sampling), it would be “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)”
